The ASEAN Supply Chain Cooperation Exchange Meeting

On 22 June 2026, the Malaysia–China Business Council (MCBC) delegation attended the ASEAN Supply Chain Cooperation Exchange Meeting in Beijing. The meeting brought together government officials, trade promotion agencies, and corporate leaders from China, ASEAN countries, and partner countries to discuss cross-border industrial collaboration.

Under the theme “Deepen Cooperation through Opening-up, Accelerate Regional Industrial and Supply Chain Integration across ASEAN,” the exchange focused on enhancing regional connectivity, optimization of supply chains, and policy synergy under the RCEP and ACFTA 3.0 frameworks.

At the meeting, MCBC Chairman YB Senator Tan Sri Dato’ Low Kian Chuan delivered a key address, pinpointing practical hurdles within the region—such as low intra-regional trade and non-tariff barriers—while proposing immediate pathways forward:

– Advancements under ACFTA 3.0.

– Utilizing strategic trade pathways like the Guangxi land-sea corridor.

– Implementing the winning operational formula of “Chinese technology + ASEAN manufacturing + global markets.”

He concluded his address with a strong call to action for global trade, emphasizing that nations should “build bridges, not walls.” Through its active participation, MCBC continues to reinforce its pivotal role in linking Malaysian enterprises with expanding regional supply-chain opportunities and global production networks.
